About Shaquille “Ququmatz” van Zichem
Shaquille van Zichem started judo in 2005 as the foundation for his boyhood dream: to become an MMA champion. To build towards that dream he also trained in wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu over the years. He achieved major successes in all three sports, nationally and internationally, with the highlight being the title of European Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion in 2019.
That was the moment, in 2020, to make his dream real and switch to MMA. After three very successful fights, his fourth fight, on 3 December 2022, made the boyhood dream come true: Shaquille van Zichem became Amateur MMA Lightweight World Champion of the RIZE FC organisation in Florida, USA.
Realising that dream has led to an even bigger one: to become World Champion in the largest MMA organisation, the UFC, within five years. In the ring he fights with the strength he draws from his family, his indigenous ancestors and Mama Sranan.
As a Forest93 Ambassador, Shaquille will now fight, inside and outside the ring, for the nature and sustainable future of Mama Sranan. Follow his career and support his charity work through his website, ququmatzglobal.com.
