Sustainable Water Supply System for Tottikamp

The Tottikamp Sustainable Water Supply Project aims to deliver clean, reliable drinking water to approximately 200 residents in Tottikamp. The village currently has no access to safe drinking water, forcing families to rely entirely on unpredictable rainwater or expensive store-bought water.

For decades, the community has faced severe water insecurity. The village’s existing 50-year-old well is heavily contaminated, and local river water has been declared unsafe for human consumption by the Surinamese authorities.

This initiative focuses on the initial research and engineering design report required to build a modern, sustainable water supply system. A feasibility study and technical blueprint will lay the groundwork to secure full project financing. The Dienst Watervoorziening, under the Ministry of Natural Resources, acts as technical adviser to the project.

This development phase is being proposed for financing through TotalEnergies EP Suriname B.V. as part of their commitment to sustainable community development in the region.
