Over Tosh “Untoshable” van Dijk
Tosh Dwayne van Dijk (born 6 June 1994) is a Surinamese taekwondo athlete who set out to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games and become Suriname’s first taekwondo athlete ever to take part. He has won medals for Suriname at the Caribbean Championships, the South American Games, the World Islamic Games and the Pan American Championships.
Besides being an elite athlete, Tosh studies accountancy at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. As he likes to say, he wants to prove that school and sport can go together.
Tosh made a conscious choice to join Green Growth Suriname as a Forest93 Ambassador. He has loved nature since he was young, and as an elite athlete he often withdraws into nature for energy and calm. Because he gets so much from nature, it pains him to see how people treat it, and everything it has to offer Suriname and the world. He is committed to helping preserve Suriname’s forest, so that everyone can find peace, energy and healing in nature for many years to come.
In January 2023 Tosh joined the Forest93 team on a visit to Community Tennis Suriname in Commewijne, to motivate the young players when they received new equipment.
