Citizen science with the Green Growth Forest app

With the Green Growth app, anyone can help keep Suriname the greenest country on earth. Citizen scientists who keep watch on tree logging add to the existing national data on forest conservation, and the data they gather helps scientists understand what drives logging and find solutions.

Suriname has little data on its forests, because well-funded research and monitoring institutions are scarce. The country needs that data to make decisions and to plan and manage its forests. Suriname is one of only two carbon-negative countries in the world, and it holds the world’s fourth-largest freshwater resources.

The app is available in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store as Green Growth Forests, or in Dutch, Groene Groei Bossen. The inputs for Suriname can be followed at app.greengrowthsuriname.org.
