Wildlife photography exhibition by Jean-Pierre Veira
Forest93 hosted Jean-Pierre Veira's first exhibition of his wildlife photography during Earth Hour, and invited school students to meet him there.
During the Green Awareness Expo in Hotel Torarica, which coincided with WWF’s Earth Hour, Forest93 hosted Jean-Pierre Veira’s first exhibition of his wildlife photography. Jean-Pierre photographed Suriname’s wildlife during his many expeditions as a tour guide, and his eye for beauty caught creatures most people never see. His favourite pictures were shown at the three-day event from 21 to 23 March 2024.
School students from several middle schools were invited to the exhibition and to put their questions to Jean-Pierre. Many of them already knew him from his wildlife content on TikTok, and got the chance to talk with him in person.
The collection did not stop at the exhibition: it was bought, exhibited elsewhere, and its proceeds went on to plant Suriname’s first food forest.
How it unfolded
Jean-Pierre donates snake photography to Clevia Park
Clevia Park acquired the reptile photo series exhibited by Jean-Pierre for its new wildlife education centre and snake house. The series carries information about the snakes and about the importance of keeping Suriname green, as part of the Keep Suriname Green campaign.
Torarica Group buys the photography collection
Eco Torarica acquired the wildlife photo collection and will exhibit it in and around its Eco Resort hotel. The photos are accompanied by general information about the animals, so that guests leave informed and enthusiastic about Suriname's biodiversity and about keeping Suriname green.
The proceeds go to Suriname's first food forest
Jean-Pierre donated the proceeds of the collection sold to Torarica Group to the project of his fellow Forest93 Ambassador Christio Wijnhard, to establish the first food forest in Suriname. Together they established the food forest that helps secure fruit for children's homes in Wanica.
