About Dean Gorré
Dean Roberto Gorré (born 10 September 1970) is a Surinamese football coach and former player. He made his debut on 20 April 1988 for SVV and went on to play for Feyenoord, FC Groningen and Ajax in the Netherlands, and for Huddersfield Town, Barnsley and Blackpool in the United Kingdom.
After his playing career he was appointed head coach at RBC Roosendaal in the Netherlands, and worked as a youth coach at Ajax and for the Scottish national under-17 team. In 2015 he had his first spell as head coach of the national squad of his native Suriname, coaching the team for three official games.
In July 2018 Gorré returned as national coach of Suriname on a two-year contract. His goal was to qualify Suriname for the Gold Cup, the championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean, for the first time, and he achieved it: through the Concacaf Nations League, which started in September 2018, and a 2–1 win over Nicaragua in the final away group match. The Gold Cup that followed was the biggest success of the national squad to date, and it inspired the whole country.
Why Forest93
Apart from football, Dean actively worked towards shaping one Suriname dream for the future. On 31 October 2021 the Suriname Football Association (SVB) and head coach Gorré parted ways. Because Dean wanted to remain involved in a positive movement for Suriname, he decided to become a Global Forest93 Ambassador. Working in Suriname and travelling throughout the country had convinced him that Suriname’s new dream for the future should be green.
As a Global Ambassador he amplifies the Forest93 message across platforms around the world. In the video below, recorded when he joined in November 2021, Dean explains why he supports Forest93.
